Good Bye Mat Latos

Mat Latos

The Padres just dealt him to Cincinnati in exchange for Edison Volquez, Yonder Alonso, Yasami Grandal, and  Brad Boxberger. This deal is worse than Bell leaving or Gonzo dealt.

Volquez, 28, broke out in 2008 with a 3.21 ERA and a 17-6 record, since then the pitcher has had an ERA over 4 and has spent time in the minors. He waHs originally aquired in exchange for CF Josh Hamilton.

Alonso, 24, hit .330 with 5 hrs last year. The 1B was a big big hitter, but he is blocked by Joey Votto. This puzzles me because of Rizzo and Blanks.

Grandal, 23, had 9 MLB at bats, and .303 avg and 14 hrs and a .400 obp. He was blocked by Devin Morasco, why didnt we get him. Grandal and Hagerty went to thw same college.

Brad Boxberger, 22, had a 2.05 ERA and 93 k's. The pen has been bolstered with Boxberger, Street, and Cory Burns, aquired for Aaron Cunningham yesterday.

Originally I hated the deal but it has grown on me.
