The GM Chronicles: Part 1

It all started when...

I went to the Dodgers game in LA, a few years ago, to watch a rookie Mat Latos, lose his rookie status for the next year by 2 inings. He threw 4 2/3 innings with 4 k's and a few wild pitches. He may have hit a batter and gave up 5 runs. During the game, I had the best seats in the house, and guess who was sitting in front of me? Kevin Towers, the current Padres GM. He was sitting with White Sox scout Dennis Gilbert. I gave KT some advice, and we had some conversations. It was a fun meeting, but he never used my advice, and 3 weeks later he was fired, and the search was started!

PS I am sorry for not posting enough, I am writing the saga today and it is several parts so we will likely see many more soon. I have been very busy with schoolwork and more lately.

  1. Take your time, it's worth the wait. Too bad about Hoyer, maybe KT will come back. What do you think of the new guy and what moves should he make in the off season? Great WS, especially Game 6. Didn't see it but heard it on the radio on the way home from work, old-timey style. Exciting!
    Glad you are back.
