The GM Chronicles: Part 2

The San Diego Padres went into the offseason looking for a GM, after firing Kevin Towers. The new ownership looked at Jerry DiPoto, Kim Ng, and more. About 3 years before this Boston hired San Diego front office employee, Theo Epstien as GM. The Padres decided to hire AGM to Epstien, Jed Hoyer. Hoyer was faced with a dillema, to trade Adrian Gonzalez, or not to trade Adrian Gonzalez.

The GM Chronicles: Part 1

It all started when...

I went to the Dodgers game in LA, a few years ago, to watch a rookie Mat Latos, lose his rookie status for the next year by 2 inings. He threw 4 2/3 innings with 4 k's and a few wild pitches. He may have hit a batter and gave up 5 runs. During the game, I had the best seats in the house, and guess who was sitting in front of me? Kevin Towers, the current Padres GM. He was sitting with White Sox scout Dennis Gilbert. I gave KT some advice, and we had some conversations. It was a fun meeting, but he never used my advice, and 3 weeks later he was fired, and the search was started!

PS I am sorry for not posting enough, I am writing the saga today and it is several parts so we will likely see many more soon. I have been very busy with schoolwork and more lately.
